I just ordered up the large print edition of The Swordsman for Mom ... and had a minor heart attack. The economy shipping (cheapest way to send it, and not trackable) is US$48.47. The whole order topped out at A$100 for the book plus shipping -- and if I'd opted for one of the better (trackable) services, the postage would have been anything up to US$130.00 ... to ship a book!
Is it me, or is this getting ridiculous?
They used to say that you'd have to buy about 50 ebooks to have the book reading gizmo pay for itself -- since the darned things cost around $500 (or more, down here). But if you were looking at ordering something from Amazon -- three books, and she's paid for.
Damn.
